Superintendent's Message

Welcome to the 2023-24 school year and our website. My name is Justin Miller and I am excited to be the Superintendent for Chowchilla Union High School District. I have been a resident of the community of Chowchilla for more than nine years and I look forward to many more fantastic years in our great community.

I would like to thank all of the voters in the Chowchilla community for passing the Measure S school facilities bond. The district has completed the educational partner feedback portion of the construction project, along with the environmental impact assessments. The district has submitted plans to the City of Chowchilla and the Division of State Architects. Our district is looking to break ground on the Transportation Yard in October/November of 2023 and break ground on the Athletic Facility in February 2024. The district will break ground on the new Career Technical Education building after the other two projects are completed.

A top priority in our district is to provide school facilities where every student is inspired and empowered in a safe, nurturing and innovative environment to follow their passions as they discover, pursue, and realize their life goals. Not to mention, a school environment the community can take pride in. To improve air quality and overall efficiency, the district has replaced 49 HVAC units and installed  bluetooth thermostats throughout buildings in the district. Also, to minimize our supply chain issues, the district is increasing our food storage capacity with a newly built walk-in freezer and refrigerator behind the nutrition services area. The district completed our roofing projects over the summer, with new roofs for the ASB room, Music/Art building, and the 100 building. Demolition of our tennis courts will begin in October. Our new tennis courts will be completed in late December.

A top priority from last school year was a significant increase to the Career Technical Education (CTE) course offerings within the Chowchilla UHS master schedule. Our district was able to add increased course offerings in Public Safety, Patient Care, Music, and Psychology. For the 2023-24 school year, each of our newer CTE course offerings will be establishing their 2nd year course as part of their pathway. Each CTE content area comes with at least a two-year pathway. Each sequential course gets more in depth within the content area and will prepare students for the workforce.

In closing, I would like to thank parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members for their dedication to the educational program at Chowchilla UHSD. Every educational partner plays a critical role in the success of our district. I look forward to an outstanding 2023-24 school year.

Roll Tribe!
