Superintendent's Message
Chowchilla Community Members,
Welcome to the 2022-23 school year and our website. My name is Justin Miller and I am the Superintendent for Chowchilla Union High School District. I have been a resident of the community of Chowchilla for more than eight years and I am excited about the future of our district.
I would like to thank all of the voters in the Chowchilla community for passing the Measure S school facilities bond. The district has begun the educational partner feedback portion of the construction project, along with the environmental impact assessments. The school facilities bond totals $25.1 million dollars and will be directed towards a new Career Technical Education facility, Student Safety, Relocation of our Transportation facility, and a new Athletics facility. The goal will be to break ground in September/October of 2023 and a completion date of January 2025.
A top priority for the 2022-23 was a significant increase to the Career Technical Education course offerings within the Chowchilla UHS master schedule. Our current pathways fall within the areas of Agriculture, Business and Marketing, Computer Science, Culinary, Medical, Music, Psychology, and Public Safety. Each CTE content area comes with at least a two-year pathway. Each sequential course gets more in depth within the content area and will prepare students for the workforce. Also, the district has added an A-G course in the area of Personal Finance. Students who take this course will develop money management skills for the everyday world.
Another top priority in our district is to provide school facilities where every student is inspired and empowered in a safe, nurturing and innovative environment to follow their passions as they discover, pursue, and realize their life goals. Not to mention, a school environment the community can take pride in. To improve air quality and overall efficiency, the district is replacing 49 HVAC units and installing bluetooth thermostats throughout the different buildings in the district. To minimize supply chain issues, the district is increasing our food storage capacity by building a larger walk-in freezer and refrigerator behind the nutrition service area.
In closing, I would like to thank parents/guardians, students, staff, and community members for your dedication to the educational program at Chowchilla UHSD. Every educational partner plays a critical role in the success of our district. I look forward to an outstanding 2022-23 school year. Roll Tribe!
Justin Miller, Ed.D.
